Catherine Gutfreund is board certified in Family Medicine as well as Holistic Integrative Medicine and Acupuncture. She attended the Medical College of Georgia graduating in 1991. She received the Health Profession Scholarship and was in the United States Army, initially training in Otolaryngology. She was on active duty for 10 years and was awarded the Meritorious Service Award for her work as the Commander of the Wiesbaden Health Clinic. She then completed residency in Family Medicine at Henry Ford Medical Center (2000). She was in private practice in Santa Rosa for 6 years prior to joining Kaiser Permanente in 2006.
Cathy has a passion for training and implementing policies on adverse childhood experiences, intimate partner violence and trauma informed care. She has been involved in physician wellbeing for 18 + years and has held many leadership positions as a member of CMA for 20 years. She has been actively involved in organized medicine since medical school.
She married her engineer husband Greg in 2002, has two teen boys, Ben and Sam, and is an avid gardener, traveler, and knitter.
